GANESH NIMAJJANAM - MY EXPERIENCE by PVS RAVINDRA VARMA
A child in you takes you to places - I was at Tankbund- Hyderabad last evening till midnight ( almost for 6 hours). When it comes to cricket better watch online. When it comes to Ganesha Nimajjanam there is only one choice..Visit the place of Immersion and celebrate.
Its Colorful, Its Noisy, Its Wild,Its Fun, Its Crazy - Full of Music and Lighting . Lakhs of People from months baby to Centenarians, Local Youth Clubs, Neighborhood associations, Traders associations, Employees from various Companies and Individuals, Muslims, Christians in the processions carefully carrying Small Idol, transporting huge Idols and that's the wonderful part of the day.
There is no other choice than brisk walking with the flow and you will find crowds of happy people drumming, singing and dancing all the time. The streets of Necklace Road and Tankbund turned into a mega congregation of people, dance, music and colour. It's a great atmosphere with life within.
You will witness Gananayaka idols in all shapes, colors, concepts and sizes. Each one has its own story.
As the night draws to a close, you start finding more and more trucks carrying mega Size Idols from various places including Balapur and Kharathabad which are on their way with huge processions with people chanting " Ganapathi Bappa Moriya" fill the air.
Next time when you plan to visit, be prepared for humongous crowds. Don't mind if you are pushed around at times as it's not meant to harm you. Better go in a group and stick together agreeing on a destination to gather again if lost for eg: Crane 20.
It's difficult to hear the mobile ringing and do not expect coverage as your network will surely be in congestion.
You will surely find some customs and practices sounding unreasonable and that's not the time to challenge them. Ignore and Enjoy the festivity as Ganesha have no objections and will never complain.
Last but not least Hats off to the Police for their bandobast with CCTV Cameras, Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Committee, Team - GHMC, Medical Attendants from 108, Fire brigade, Expert Swimmers for rescue operations, Vendors supplying food, Crane Drivers and helpers, Railways, RTC, Media and the volunteers for directing the flow of people and trucks and the Bakthamahasayas for their self Discipline. - They all are fully committed and I appreciate and Congratulate all of them for performing such an arduous job so well.
Sound Pollution, Water Pollution was a serious concern as always. I know GHMC Team will concentrate on Cleanliness but More Waste Bins and educating the crowds on cleanliness was surely a missing point and a big concern.
Farewell to Ganesha and eagerly looking forward to see him back at home.
JAI GANESHA !
